SaFFlicks Film Festival

A day of sapphic film showcasing lesbian & bisexual stories from across the world on the big screen. From comedy to drama and neo-noir thriller – there is something for everyone to enjoy. In 2023 SaFFlicks brings 3 feature films, a web series and a series of 4 short films to the Quarterhouse in Folkestone. Turning the venue into an LGBTQ+ space for the day. Alongside the film screenings there will be stalls from local LGBTQ+ organisations and a social space upstairs. Come for a film or two, stay for the day and catch up with friends old and new.

Individual tickets available, or purchase a festival pass to watch all 5 screenings; a picnic lunch; access to the social space; plus access to the full festival online on Lesflicks to watch in the comfort of your own home between 13 and 30 November 2023 (includes an additional 29 short films)

2:00pm Sapphic Shorts (1h) 4 sapphic shorts that take us from first coming out to having a family; from being a teenager to being in our later life; from the UK to the US; from new relationships to long-term relationships and coming out later in life. These four shorts have it all and will entertain and inform you. Featuring neurodiversity, faith, school, co-habiting and so much more!
4:00pm Love Me Lex (27m) Work, children, family, friends, more work… Lex Adamson is in her mid-40s and doing it all – but without that special someone by her side. The modern world is tough. Does Lex have a fighting chance of finding her One?
5:00pm Wild Fire (1h 40m) Seven acquaintances get radically honest about their lives.Wild Fire explores love, lust, and loyalty through the lens of three couples of various sexualities and a recent widow.
7:30pm Serpentine Pink (1h 21m) A dark surreal experience. A first of its kind, vortex of a lesbian🌈 John Waters film meets Yellow Rose meets early Almodóvar on a Lynchian induced trip🍄in the Mojave desert.🌵Serious Lost Highway vibes!

Shorts programme

4 sapphic shorts that take us from first coming out to having a family; from being a teenager to being in our later life; from the UK to the US; from new relationships to long-term relationships and coming out later in life. These four shorts have it all and will entertain and inform you. Featuring neurodiversity, faith, school, co-habiting, family and so much more!

2pm Tater Tots (14m) A dry comedy about a lesbian high school student named Gilly who needs to make it through a school day of harassment, the Pacer test, and a lack of tater tots, or she’ll get suspended for truancy.
2:15pm Love (10m) A sapphic lesbian coming of age short film that follows two girls veering away from societies norms as they come to terms with their sexuality.
2:25pm Mr Strappy (12m) A romantic comedy exploring love and adult life about that spark that sometimes goes missing in a relationship when life’s distractions seem to get in the way of what’s important.
2:38pm Oisín (22m) A single mother longing for connection gets to know the girl next door after meeting at a petrol station with her autistic son.
